Budapest's two busiest airlines allow only assistance dogs on board. LOT carries dogs, cats and ferrets, and from 22 October a separate set of rules says in what carrier, with what papers and on what terms.
Under the June agreement between the European Parliament and the member states, a standard ticket will include a personal item that fits under the seat and a cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 100 cm combined, free of charge. The rule starts in October 2027 at the earliest; until then the airlines' current terms apply.
